A search panel is available on nearly all pages on the Activity scheduling area of the web site. It is down the left hand side of the screen. From this search panel you can perform a search for one or more visits by selecting from a range of options.
The following is a brief overview of the search panel. Following this overview is a description of each option in more detail.
The one main thing to bear in mind, if your search results get confused, is that you can always click on the "Reset" button at any point and all the search options will be cleared - allowing you to start from scratch.

The
most effective way to find a healthcare provider is to type in the box of the
drop-down list. As you type a word, the drop-down list will only show those
providers whose names match. For example, type "kno" into the box and you will
see as you type the list of options will reduce to eventually only a few,
including, for example "Knowsley Primary Care Trust" (as shown to the right).
Once you go to a smaller list you can select the one you want from those listed.
Alternatively, you can view the entire list and scroll down that list. If you click on the arrow to the right of the drop down box you will be presented with the start of an alphabetical list of all providers. At the top of the results it will say something like "15 of 1863 retrieved." - try this and see.
To
expand this list to show more than the first 15 click on the downward chevron at
the bottom of the list shown in the diagram to the right. After clicking on the double chevron, at the top of the list it will say
something like "45 of 1863 retrieved". Continue to click on the double chevron
to expand the number of healthcare providers shown.
After selecting a healthcare provider, the Strategic health authority drop-down list will be disabled (greyed out). This is because once you select a healthcare provider, selecting a strategic health authority becomes redundant.
The list of activity owners are those organisations who undertaken activities with the healthcare providers. Simply select an activity owner from the drop-down list providers. If you don't select an individual activity owner, your search will include all organisations who undertaken activities.
Similar to the activity owner, select a single type of activity from the list in drop-down list. If you don't select anything, your search will include all activity types.
This drop-down list allows you to limit your search to one strategic health authority. If you select a single Strategic Health Authority, the healthcare provider drop-down list is filtered to only those providers within your chosen strategic health authority - the filtered list only includes NHS organisations because independent organisations are not related to strategic health authorityies.
There are hundreds of activities, so you may want to reduce the results to only those between two dates.
You
can either:
1) Type dates into the text boxes - in the order day, then month, then year. For example, 24th February 2006 would be entered as 24/02/2006
2) Use the popup calendar by clicking on the little calendar icon (shown to the right). Then simply click on the date, using the month and year options to move to a specific calendar month. This option is often quicker and make sure the format of the date entered is accurate.
