Less frequent assessment

From the beginning of 2006/07, the NHS Litigation Authority has reduced the frequency of assessment for trusts achieving the higher levels of its standards from two to three years.

Inspection activity

Health and Safety Executive inspection activities are based on a ‘rating system’, where good performing organisations are inspected less frequently than poor performers. Where proper management of risks can be assured, HSE will target efforts and resources where the risks are less well understood and managed. In time, this will increase confidence and competence, and promote effective self-regulation.
