Many Concordat signatories already inspect/audit against transparent standards and assessment criteria. For example:

  • the Commission for Social Care Inspection inspects against the Government’s National Minimum Standards (NMS). These are specific to each type of care setting and can all be accessed here:

  • the Audit Commission’s new Auditor Local Evaluation (ALE) establishes clear criteria for performance that have been shared with audited bodies.
