The role of the Healthcare Commission in implementing the Concordat

One of the Healthcare Commission’s key roles is to promote the coordination of reviews and assessments carried out by public bodies that are responsible for auditing, inspecting and/or regulating health and healthcare in England.

The Healthcare Commission is leading a programme to implement the 10 objectives of the Concordat, in partnership with other signatories (see strategic goal 5 in the Healthcare Commission's strategic plan 2005/2008 (pdf 790kb)).

The Healthcare Commission assesses and inspects healthcare organisations using a number of different activities. This corporate position statement explains the extent to which the guidelines for making recommendations will be implemented in these activities.
