Accessibility
The concordat website has been developed to meet W3C AA standards for accessibility. This includes clear labelling of all links, and the type and size of any documents for downloading. We have attempted to use plain English throughout the site, although there may be some technical documents and information aimed specifically at healthcare related organisations.
Text size and colour
You can change the size and colour of the text on this site.
On a PC
Using Internet Explorer - to change text size, select 'View' at the top of the browser window, then scroll down and select the 'Text size' option, change the size as required. To ignore font and background colours, select the 'Tools' menu, then scroll down and select 'Internet Options'. In the 'General' tab of the window, click the 'Accessibility' button, here you can choose to ignore the way the page is formatted. Then when you click 'OK' you return to the 'Internet Options' window and you can use the 'Colours' and 'Fonts' buttons to set these to your own requirements.
On a Mac
Using Internet Explorer - select 'Preferences' from the 'Edit' menu at the top of the screen. Click on 'Web content' and uncheck the 'Show style sheets' option. Return to the list of preferences and choose 'Web browser', then click on 'Language/fonts' and choose the size you require.
Using Safari - Change the font size by using the font size button in the browser menu bar. To set your text preferences and your own style sheet, select 'Preferences' from the 'Safari' menu.
Colour
We do not use colour to convey information.
Images
All relevant images have alternative text descriptions for screen readers.
Navigating without a mouse
Use the 'arrow' keys on your keyboard to scroll up and down a page. Use the 'tab' key to move between links, then click 'return' or 'enter' to select a link. Use the 'backspace' key to go back to the previous page.
Documents
Most of the downloadable documents on this site are PDF files, but there may also be some Word and Excel files.
Opening documents - if you click a link to a document, it is likely to open in your browser window. To save a document to your computer, on a PC right-click on the link, on a Mac, hold the mouse cursor over the link, and select 'Save Target As'. Then choose where you want to save the document.
